Job Details
Finkbine Golf Course is the University of Iowa's golf course and is home to the Men's and Women's Collegiate Teams. Finkbine is located in Iowa City on 200 acres. The golf course consists of bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways and stretches 7,200 yards. We recently cracked Golf Weeks top 40 collegiate courses and ranks in Top 5 Public access courses in Iowa.
Duties:
The Golf Course Maintenance Intern will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in all aspects of golf course management. Areas of education will be tailored to each interns skill set and will include but not be limited to the following duties.
· Daily Course Setup and Scouting
· Equipment Operation
· Irrigation Repair, Maintenance and Operation. Lynx control system with Osmac satellites and Toro heads
· Water management which focuses on hand watering green surfaces with the use of moisture meters
· Proper calibration of sprayers and fertilization equipment
· Fertilizer and Plant protectant applications
· Crew management

Job Requirements
Previous turf management experience a plus, but not necessary.
Currently enrolled in a Turf Management Program.
A positive, self-driven, team minded attitude is a must. We are looking for individuals that take pride in what we do and are eager to learn and set themselves up for an assistant opportunity once finished. The right candidate will be exposed to all facets of golf course management including daily course setup, fertilizing, spraying, irrigation maintenance, repairs, and operation, the use of moisture meters and hand watering, crew management, budgeting and record keeping. No two internships will be the same as the first day we will sit down with the students and adjust our summer internship program so that it fits your needs as well as ours.
