Assistant Superintendent
Job Details
Old Town Club is an 18- hole private country club located in Winston Salem, NC. Originally designed by Perry Maxwell in 1939, the course has been renovated by Coore & Crenshaw in 2013 and 2023. The renovations focused on extensive tree removal, merging fairways, informal teeing grounds, Better Billy Bunker liner in 2023, and converting to TifEagle putting surfaces in 2023. The Club has risen through the rankings in recent years, notably:
- No. 39 in Golf Digest's Top 100 Greatest
- No. 32 in US in GOLF Magazine
- No. 59 in World in LINKS Magazine
- No. 38 in World in "Top 100 Golf Courses" Publication
The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Management team, lead in-house projects, and train staff members. Other duties will include daily course preparation, plant protectant and fertility applications, and irrigation repair. Despite recent renovations, we continue to improve the conditions and member experience through a variety of in-house projects. We encourage the Assistant Superintendent to be innovative, hands-on, and take on tasks of their own catering to their strengths and weaknesses. Work-life balance is embraced by the Management with weekend coverage rotating amongst the Assistants. Previous experience with bermudagrass is welcomed though not required.
