Walnut Creek Country Club is seeking a motivated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy leadership team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a progressive, innovative 27-hole private club that continues to invest heavily in technology, infrastructure, and long-term course improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in daily golf course setup, scheduling, and supervision of maintenance staff
- Participate in agronomic programs for greens, tees, fairways, rough, and native areas
- Assist with fertilizer, plant protectant, and cultural practice applications
- Monitor turf conditions and communicate observations and recommendations
- Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repair
- Train and mentor seasonal and full-time employees
- Assist with project planning, execution, and documentation
- Support tournament preparation and special events
- Promote and enforce safety and environmental best practices
Progressive Operations & Infrastructure
- Three Firefly autonomous fairway mowing units, with active plans to expand automated mowing
- Rain Bird IC 2-Wire irrigation system installed across all 27 holes

Renovated North and West Courses featuring:
- Capillary concrete bunker liners
- Dominant X-Treme creeping bentgrass fairways and tees
- Expanded greens complexes
- Ongoing tree management focused on turf health, airflow, and sightlines
- Extensive drainage improvements completed during renovations
- Pond and creek bank restoration utilizing the SOX erosion control system

Job Requirements
1–4 years of golf course maintenance experience preferred
Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
High attention to detail and strong work ethic
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Michigan pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain promptly)
Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating schedule
