K & C Grounds Maintenance, Inc is one of the leading athletic field service contractors in Maryland. As a member of the Sports Field Managers Association, we have been maintaining and renovating athletic fields for over 15 years. The scope of our services is athletic field maintenance, renovation, and construction. This will typically range from baseball, soccer, and football fields - in addition to working on golf courses.
We currently operate out of Cockeysville, MD with the majority of our properties within an hour drive or less from the shop in Cockeysville.
We are seeking an experienced and professional individual to help us expand our customer base and continue to produce top notch service and results. This is a growth potential position, as we have doubled our customer base in the last several years and the overall company continues to grow. It is a great opportunity to make an impact and be rewarded accordingly. This position is for someone looking mostly to be both in the field doing the work and partially in the office assisting on the back end. The position can be tailored to the individual’s strengths while also training their weaknesses. It is a great chance to be able to provide needed input to help operations run more smoothly. Individual will work closely with the Sports Turf Operations Manager and assist him in his daily planning and practices.
The Sports Turf Manager candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Produce high quality work that meets K&C’s standard and satisfies the client
- Conduct site visits with new and existing customers
- Frequently inspect maintenance properties and make turfgrass quality assessments
- Adjust irrigation programs accordingly
- Apply fertilizers and pesticides properly
- Operate specialized machinery
- Lead special projects ranging from baseball renovations to golf course aerifications
- Maintain daily records of work performed
- Help put together new bids/proposals for prospective clients
- Assist in creating maintenance programs for clients based on sound agronomics and maintenance practices
- Report to the Sports Turf Operations Manager and provide input
- Ability to manage a crew of 2-5 people
- Represent K&C Grounds at various trade shows & events

Salary starting at $50,000+ depending on experience
Job Requirements
One (1) year minimum working knowledge of turfgrass maintenance operations, preferably more, in either the sports turf or golf course industry
Familiarity with applying fertilizers and pesticides, both spray and granular
Experience operating machinery and driving trucks/trailers
High School diploma as minimum. 2-year or 4-year turf-related degree preferred. Or high amount of turfgrass industry experience and turfgrass knowledge.
Individual must be responsible and punctual
A valid driver's license
DOT physical (can be acquired post hire)
Maryland fertilizer and pesticide applicator’s licenses (or ability to obtain them promptly)
