Golf Course Superintendent

Portland West is a public course located right outside of the greater Hartford area, in Portland, Connecticut. The golf course is an executive 18-hole, par 60 course. With multiple tee boxes on every hole, the course can offer a tough, but fair experience for golfers of all skill levels. The spacious clubhouse is a great space for hosting multiple events and social gatherings. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Daily maintenance and long-term care of greens, tees, fairways, rough, and practice areas
• Hiring, training, and scheduling of grounds and seasonal staff
• Adequate knowledge of irrigation systems and system upkeep
• Mowing, fertilization, aeration, and pest-control programs
• Monitoring turf health and responding to weather or environmental conditions
• Oversight of maintenance equipment, tools, and facilities
• Budget preparation and coordination with ownership
• Course setup for tournaments, leagues, and special events
• Compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
• Regular communication with owners and PGA
• Basic Mechanic Knowledge for small engine repairs
• Maintain basic landscaping around the clubhouse and parking lot
• Experience with operating heavy equipment; backhoe loader, etc.
