Irrigation Technician

Job Details

Karsten Golf Club is seeking a dedicated Irrigation Technician / Irrigation Specialist to manage and optimize our newly installed (2024) irrigation system. This position plays a critical role in turf performance, water management, and daily course conditioning.

Irrigation at Karsten is not a secondary task — it is a specialized technical position central to agronomic success. The selected candidate will oversee programming, troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and long-term performance of a modern irrigation infrastructure.

System Infrastructure

  • HDPE mainline and lateral piping (new 2024)

  • Rain Bird central control and field components

  • Watertronics pump station and booster pump

  • Modern valve-in-head system throughout

Key Responsibilities

  • Program and adjust irrigation scheduling to support turf health and superintendent directives

  • Diagnose and repair heads, valves, wiring, decoders, solenoids, and hydraulic issues

  • Monitor and maintain pump station performance

  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure uniform coverage and efficiency

  • Manage parts inventory and coordinate repairs proactively

  • Assist with seasonal startup, winterization, and capital improvements

  • Maintain accurate logs of water use and system adjustments

Experience Requirements



Prior golf course irrigation experience preferred but not required





Working knowledge of Rain Bird systems strongly desired





Experience with HDPE systems and pump stations a plus





Strong troubleshooting ability (mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical)





Self-motivated and capable of working independently

High School Diploma or Equivalent
