Aspetuck Valley Country Club was built in 1967, the Hal Purdy design is a private 18 hole facility, with 15,000+ rounds per year. 3 acres of predominantly Poa annua greens, 3 Acres of Poa/bentgrass tees, and 25 acres of Poa/bentgrass/ryegrass fairways. We recently finished constructing the lower campus per our long range plan, which included a new maintenance complex and driving range expansion. Installation of a new Watertronics pumpstation occurred in January of 2025. We also recently completed the renovation of the 11th thru 15th holes and are currently renovating our bunkers along with other long range plans with Architect Joel Weiman. New irrigation system in development stages.
Aspetuck Valley Country Club is seeking a qualified, highly motivated, team-oriented individual for our Assistant Superintendent position. The assistant Superintendent will participate in a diverse range of activities involved in daily golf course maintenance and preparation for tournaments. Work directly with the golf course superintendent and assistant superintendent regarding daily decision making on watering, cultural practices, agronomics, and projects. Our goal as a staff is to provide excellent turf conditions while supplying the Assistant Superintendent with the proper tools and environment to learn and develop as a professional in the industry.
- Oversee and participate in daily maintenance operations, including mowing, irrigation, and crew supervision
- Assist with agronomic planning and execution of cultural practices
- Calibrate and apply fertilizers and pesticides in accordance with state regulations
- Manage and train crew members
- Assist in project coordination and course renovations
- Support irrigation scheduling and water management decisions
- Contribute to daily planning and staff scheduling

Job Requirements
Previous golf course experience
A team player who is capable of working with other assistants and crew members
Graduate of or currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year Turfgrass Science program preferred
Understanding of irrigation systems, turf management, and pest control
Connecticut Pesticide License or ability to obtain
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Self-motivated with a positive, team-oriented mindset
Ability to work effectively with a diverse staff, including Spanish/Portuguese-speaking team members
Dedicated to long-term professional growth within the turf industry
