Palmetto Pine Country Club, a well‑established semi‑private club located in the heart of Cape Coral, is seeking a motivated and dedicated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy team. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed turf professional looking to grow their career in Southwest Florida under warm‑season turfgrass conditions.

About the Club
Palmetto Pine features an 18‑hole championship layout on Bimini bermudagrass wall to wall with Tif- Eagle putting greens. The golf course was renovated over the last two years, with smaller-scale renovations planned for the next couple years. Palmetto-Pine has ongoing projects focused on improving course conditioning, playability, and long‑term sustainability. The club has ownership committed to improving and sustaining a top-tier golfing experience in Southwest Florida.  

 

Responsibilities

• Supervising and training maintenance staff
• Daily planning and crew assignment
• Irrigation system monitoring, repair, and programming
• Fertilizer and pesticide applications and record‑keeping
• Scouting for turf health, pests, weeds, and irrigation issues
• Operation of course maintenance equipment
• Assisting with cultural practices including aerification, topdressing, and verticutting
• Participating in long‑term agronomic planning and project execution
• Ensuring safe working practices throughout the operation

Job Requirements

Experience Requirements

• Previous golf course maintenance or assistant superintendent experience required

• Strong understanding of warm‑season turfgrass management, especially bermudagrass

• Working knowledge of irrigation systems and troubleshooting

• Ability to lead and motivate a diverse crew

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and variable hours as required

Educational Requirements

• Degree or certificate in turfgrass management, agronomy, or related field preferred

• Florida pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within 90 days)

• Become Florida Golf Course BMP certified
