Position Summary: The Sod Farm Mechanic works under the direction the Farm Director and Farm Manager to perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on a wide range of farm equipment. This position ensures machinery is in safe and reliable working condition to support daily sod production, planting, and harvesting operations.

Experience Requirements
Qualifications
Hands-on experience as a mechanic in agriculture, turf, or heavy equipment industries.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
Welding and fabrication skills preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on efficiency and quality.
Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.

Special Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repair on tractors, harvesters, mowers, sprayers, spreaders, trucks, and trailers.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and carry out repairs efficiently.
Assist with welding, fabrication, and assembly of equipment and parts as needed.
Support preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
Report equipment needs, safety issues, and operational concerns to the Shop Manager.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop and field.
Assist other departments when needed to support overall farm operations.
