Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club is seeking a Golf Course Mechanic who is passionate about their career and maintains a positive attitude. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, maintain a clean and organized work area, and collaborate effectively with the team under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent.


About the Club

Founded in 1961, Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club began under the leadership of its first president, George McBurney. During that time, construction began on the clubhouse, marina, golf course, and the club’s first tennis court. The golf course was designed by world-renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Sr.

Since its grand opening more than 60 years ago, Turtle Point has grown to over 600 members and has hosted numerous prestigious events, including performances by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, a golf exhibition by Jack Nicklaus, and the Southeastern Women's Amateur Team Championship.

The course has also hosted several major tournaments, including:

  • SEC Men's Golf Championship
  • Alabama State Amateur Championship
  • Southern Amateur Championship

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical repairs on gasoline and diesel golf course equipment in a timely and precise manner
  • Maintain all equipment in safe and operable condition
  • Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all equipment
  • Order parts and supplies as needed while tracking inventory and expenses for budget purposes
  • Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair mechanical defects in golf course maintenance equipment
  • Perform mower grinding and sharpening, overhaul motors and reels, and install or adjust braking systems
  • Conduct machining and welding work to fabricate fittings for equipment repair
  • Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance, repairs, and parts orders
  • Assist with training and orientation of new staff members
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the equipment shop and maintenance facilities

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of golf course mechanical experience, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the required knowledge and skills

Compensation & Benefits

$25 – $35 per hour
