Assistant-in-Training

Job Details

Spring Creek Golf Club is seeking a rising turf professional looking to elevate their career.  Our maintenance team has added an Assistant in Training position tailored to an individual who is motivated to gain hands-on experience at one of the region’s premier golf facilities.

Located just outside Charlottesville, Spring Creek was masterfully designed by Ed Carton and features a truly special layout defined by wall-to-wall cool-season turf—a rare and demanding distinction in this region. Maintaining cool-season playing surfaces at a high level in the transition zone requires precision, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence.

This position is ideal for an aspiring turf manager looking to test their skills and develop a deep understanding of what it takes to maintain championship-level conditions in a challenging climate.

What You’ll Experience

  • Hands-on involvement in all aspects of daily golf course maintenance
  • Advanced management of cool-season turf in a transition-zone environment
  • Water management, fertility planning, and plant health strategies
  • Mowing and cultural practices for greens, tees, fairways, and roughs
  • Exposure to course setup and tournament preparation
  • Leadership development and team coordination experience
  • Equipment operation and maintenance best practice

Why Spring Creek?

  • Unique wall-to-wall cool-season turfgrass program
  • High standards and pride in presentation
  • Opportunity to learn directly within a thoughtfully designed, architecturally significant layout
  • Supportive environment focused on professional growth
